Our mission is to empower 7th and 8th grade youth to grow into confident, capable leaders who engage positively and productively within their communities. Through intentional mentorship, social-emotional learning, and hands-on community exploration, we help young people build strong identities, meaningful relationships, and a deep sense of purpose. At the heart of our program are caring, loving, and fierce adult mentors who lead by example-walking alongside youth as trusted guides and role models. Together, we cultivate spaces where young people are seen, supported, and inspired to lead, serve, and make a lasting impact in the world around them.
We envision a future where every young person is supported by a caring adult mentor and empowered to become a connected, compassionate, and courageous leader in their community. We see youth not only thriving in their personal development, but also actively shaping stronger, more inclusive neighborhoods through their voices, actions, and leadership. By building a culture of mentorship and modeling, we aim to inspire generations of youth and adults who uplift one another and transform their communities from the inside out.
BECOMING with Guidance is a youth mentorship, development and community engagement program for youth in 7th and 8th grade.
Mentorship: 1X1 and small group
Development: Social, emotional, leadership skill development and support.
Community Engagement: Exploration, Awareness and Community Service
We are currently operating as an after school program at Columbia Explorers Academy in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood.
